Rachel Constantine Open Studio 2017
Sunday, October 8th, 12-6 pm

The Putnam Building
1627 N. 2nd Street, Studio 310
Philadelphia, PA, 19122

Hello Friends!

I can hardly believe it, but it's that time again. Please join me in my new studio for this year's Philadelphia Open Studio Tour (POST). There will be many new landscape, still-life, floral, figure and portrait studies available; and new, in-progress work on display. This day will be the grand-opening for all of the art studios in the Putnam building, so there will be lots of art to see. Come and raise a glass with all of us in celebration.

The Putnam building is located in the Lower Kensington area of Philadelphia and is just a few short blocks from the hustle and bustle of Fishtown. There is ample street parking and over a dozen bars and restaurants within walking distance if you wish to make an afternoon or evening of it. All are welcome, and I look forward to seeing you!

Women Painting Women: In Earnest
October 19 – December 16, 2017
J. Wayne Stark Galleries

In other news, the traveling exhibition "Women Painting Women: In Earnest" is currently at the Customs House Museum in Clarksville, Tennessee, and has been garnering great reviews. I am extremely honored to have my painting "Self Portrait with a Man" included alongside of some of my favorite contemporary painters. The show will then be heading to Texas A&M University's J.M. Stark Galleries in October, and I have been invited by the university to do a painting demonstration and participate in a panel discussion in conjunction with the exhibition. I will also be attending the opening on October 19th from 6-9pm, so please join us if you are in the area.

Details
Here.

Here is a cool 360 view of the exhibition as it is currently displayed at the Customs House Museum.

There is also a beautiful catalogue for the exhibition available through Magcloud, click the image below for details and purchasing.

Thanks for reading, and wishing you all a beautiful autumn season!

Hello, Friends!
I hope this message finds you well and enjoying a beautiful summer. There
have been major developments at Rachel Constantine Studios, and I wanted to
share some of the most exciting things with you.

First thing's first: The new studio!

My new studio is located in the newly remodeled Putnam Building in the
hip, Fishtown/Lower Kensington area of Philadelphia (1627 N. 2nd Street).
For those of you unfamiliar with the neighborhood, it is only 12 minutes
north and east of the building that previously housed my work space. My
Putnam studio has over 900 square feet of floor space, which means that I
not only have a lot of room for my own work, but I can now teach classes on
figurative/portrait painting and drawing. Stay tuned for information on
courses...

"Women Painting Women: In Earnest", Traveling Exhibition

My painting "Self Portrait with a Man" is heading out on tour this month with the "Women Painting Women: In Earnest" exhibition. The first stop of this traveling exhibition will be the Customs House Museum in Clarksville, TN, (August 1st to October 16th). Then, it will travel to the J. Wayne Stark Galleries at Texas A&M University and run from October 22 to December 15, 2017. This exhibition includes some of my all-time favorite contemporary painters, and it is an honor to be included among them. I encourage all of you to visit the Customs House or the J. Wayne Stark Galleries, it will be worth the trip.

Finally, the Philadelphia Open Studio Tour (POST) for my section of the
city will be held on Sunday, October 8th, 2017. This year each section of
the city has 1 day of focus instead of two, so please make a note of that
and mark your calendars for an opportunity to see a really cool combination
of artists, craftsman and designers here at the Putnam Building!

Thanks so much for everything, and I hope to see you all soon!

Warmly,

Rachel

I hope this note finds you all well and enjoying an invigorating and inspiring fall. Summer came and went in a flurry of productivity as I've been preparing for some really exciting events: WPW: (R)evolution September 20^th- October 18^th, 2013 Opening Reception: 6:30 pm- 9pm, September 20th, 2013 Featured Artists: Mia Bergeron * Alia El-Bermani * Linda Tracey Brandon * Candice Bohannon * Rachel Constantine * Ellen Cooper * Ellen Eagle * Diane Feissel * Felicia Forte * Zoey Frank * Katherine Fraser * Lisa Gloria * Tara Juneau * Andrea Kemp * Stanka Kordic * Susan Lyon * Katie O’Hagan * Catherine Prescott * Cindy Procious * Shannon Runquist * Ilaria Rosselli del Turco * Kate Savage * Katherine Stone * Terry Moore Strickland * Stefani Tewes * Alexandra Tyng * Sadie Jernigan Valeri * Lea Colie Wight * Jennifer Balkan * Linda Lee Nelson * Teresa Oaxaca * Paula Rubino Principle Gallery 208 King Street Alexandria, VA 22314 (730)739-9326 www.principlegallery.com (http://www.principlegallery.com/) I am delighted to be exhibiting alongside 31 of today's most exciting painters in the highly anticipated "Women Painting Women:(R)Evolution!" exhibition at Principle Gallery. The goal of this show is to expand the collective sense of what a woman is and means in the realm of art. When the 12 women from the 2012 show "The Exhibition and Beyond" were invited to return, we decided to each invite one female artist to exhibit alongside us, thus multiplying the power and vision of the group two-fold. Our hope is to continue to build community and visibility for women artists, so we put out a call to galleries to host their own WPW exhibition, and 5 other galleries- including one in Scotland, UK- are running consecutive exhibitions and over 100 artists are gaining exposure through them. I urge you to take a moment and look at the impressive collection of images of women painted by women that has been assembled for these shows. Learn more about the Women Painting Women:(R)Evolution! and see the complete list of artists and galleries participating here (http://womenpaintingwomen.blogspot.com/p/wpwrevolution.html) . I will be unveiling two new pieces in the "WPW:(R)Evolution!" show at Principle Gallery, which opens Friday September 20th. (Reception is 6:30-9pm, please stop by if you are in the area!) I am delighted to be exhibiting alongside 31 of today's most exciting painters in the highly anticipated "Women Painting Women:(R)Evolution!" exhibition at Principle Gallery. The goal of this show is to expand the collective sense of what a woman is and means in the realm of art.  When the 12 women from the 2012 show "Women Painting Women: The Exhibition and Beyond" were invited to return, we decided to each invite one female artist to exhibit alongside us, thus multiplying the power and vision of the group two-fold. Principle added 5 women from thier roster and we were then a group of 32 painters. Our hope is to continue to build community and visibility for women artists, so we also put out a call to other galleries to host their own WPW exhibitions, and 5 other galleries- including one in Scotland, UK- agreed to do so. Over 100 artists are gaining exposure through this. I urge you to take a moment and look at the impressive collection of images of women painted by women that has been assembled for these shows. Learn more about the Women Painting Women:(R)Evolution! and see the complete list of artists and galleries participating here

I will be unveiling two new pieces in the "WPW:(R)Evolution!" show at Principle Gallery, which opens on Friday, September 20th. (Reception is 6:30-9pm, please stop by if you are in the area!)  The first, pictured above, is titled "The Take Away" and measures 66x64". The second is pictured below.

Stay tuned for information on
courses...

"Summer Paintings"
The Fan Gallery, Philadelphia

Openings: July 7, 5-9pm, and August 4, 5-9pm

I am excited to announce that I will have 7 paintings in the Summer Paintings Exhibition at Fan Gallery in Old City, Philadelphia. The show runs from July 7th to August 19th, and the opening is this Friday, July 7th from 6-8. I will be at the opening, so please stop by and say hello!

Finally, the Philadelphia Open Studio Tour (POST) for my section of the
city will be held on Sunday, October 8th, 2017, from 12-6pm. This year each section of
the city has 1 day of focus instead of two, so please make a note of that
and mark your calendars for an opportunity to see a really cool combination
of artists, craftsman and designers here at the Putnam Building!

Thanks so much for everything, and I hope to see you all soon!

Warmly,

Rachel
